A large Medical Device company needed to improve the health of their translation process, which was plagued by overlapping workflows, inconsistent terminology, and multiple TMs.
“their translation record keeping for compliance purposes was decentralized, confusing and spotty, putting them at risk….”
Our client was using 14 different Translation Providers to carry out translation work for different languages, document types and lines of business.
Each provider had its own processes, workflows, tools and TM, leading to inconsistencies in terminology and version control, as well as several minor quality errors and a few major mistakes.
In addition, their translation record keeping for compliance purposes was decentralized, confusing and spotty, putting them at risk in the event of a regulatory audit.
Prisma’s Strategic Consulting Team developed a two-phase solution:
Phase I: Vendor Consolidation
Prisma assisted in conducting a Client Sourcing event to reduce the number of Translation Providers from 14 to just 3 providers. Common standards and requirements were established to ensure consistent performance tracking across all providers.
Phase II: Integration to Common Platform
The 3 approved translation companies were then on-boarded to the LEX™ platform, bringing several major benefits:
• Common (shared) TM
• Common workflows
• Pooled metrics to provide a single, rolled-up management overview
• Regulatory auditability
