Our People
The Prisma team is made up of linguists, technology experts, program managers and ops personnel from over 30 countries.
Our talented team speaks dozens of languages and possesses a deep practical understanding of linguistics, technology, program management, business, government service, and cultures.
Our Purpose
Prisma's core purpose is to support our clients with the language services they need to help them communicate with customers and end-users, at speed and scale.
We align our solutions to our clients' goals and processes, acting as trusted partners, linguistic advisors, and extensions of their team.
Our History
1982
Since 1982, Prisma has been a trusted partner to a wide range of business and government clients, providing multilingual services and solutions in over 300 languages and dialects.
1999
One of the first language service providers to achieve ISO certification (1999), Prisma's focus has been on linguistic quality, peerless project management, and the incorporation of leading-edge technologies.
2011
Since being awarded a GSA Contract in 2011, our Government practice has grown in size and breadth, enabling us to have real impact to the various communities served by Federal, State and local government agencies.
2015
Prisma launches Lex (Localization Enterprise Exchange), a custom translation management platform that gave clients a more automated, streamlined way to manage their translation operations. Lex would later evolve into what is now LexAI.
2020
Prisma was proud to support the U.S. 2020 Census by providing translation services in 59 languages—helping ensure clear, accurate participation nationwide. Our work enabled effective, high-quality communication for millions of residents during the first Census in U.S. history conducted both online and in print.
Today
As the language industry evolves with AI and other technologies, Prisma continues to lead with innovation—adapting rapidly while staying grounded in what matters most: our clients and end users.
Our "best of both worlds" combination of leading technology and human expertise continues a 40+ year tradition of providing high-quality, culturally aligned language services and solutions at scale.

Chief Executive Officer
James V. Romano, Ph.D
Ever since he was a kid trying to understand his Italian grandfather at the dinner table, Jim has been fascinated by the power—and complexity—of language and culture. In 1982, he founded Prisma, and for over forty years, he’s helped clients connect meaningfully with their audiences, users, and communities.
Throughout the decades, Jim has played an active role in the evolution of the language profession, navigating global shifts from the globalization of the economy in the 1980s to the explosion of the internet in the 1990s—and now, the transformative emergence of AI and LLMs.
Under his leadership, Prisma has grown from a boutique firm into a global provider of language operations and solutions—embracing leading-edge technologies while staying grounded in core values: quality, service, and a deep respect for the people and communities that Prisma helps its clients reach.
